Update windows in 1920x1080

Recommended Posts

Hello.

It's probably been mentioned before but I couldn't find anything using the search function. Anyways, when you're on a high resolution like e.g. 1920x1080, the picture in the update window doesn't fit the rest of the window. And the blue malwarebytes logo is also very pixlated. Picture below.

Thanks. Though it happens on this monitor even when I install it on a fresh system after formatting. It's probably as daledoc1 says, something to do with the DPI of the screen - since David also runs it at the same resolution on his desktop, which probably has a different DPI compared to mine.

I think it's a DPI scaling thing.

Some months back, another of my 3rd-party programs (Techsmith Snagit) had their tools ribbon display break for some folks (including me, but only on my laptop) with a version upgrade.

TMAVLSS, the workaround until the devs could fix it was to change the DPI scaling for the computer's display.

That did indeed fix the problem with their tools ribbon, but it broke the updates windows for a couple of programs (including MBAM, I think). (And it made everything on the older, 15.6" display very hard to read).  It looked exactly like your screenshot.

Eventually, the Techsmith guys patched their program, I was able to restore my original DPI scaling settings, and the updates windows for MBAM & the other affected programs reverted to displaying correctly.

I know less than nothing about programming, so I can't explain what I observed in technical terms.

But it seems to mirror what you're seeing.

Perhaps the MBAM devs or Exile360 might be able to offer a more technical explanation or fix?

Cheers,

My default DPI-setting  was set at 120 DPI. I changed it to 96 DPI and the problem is fixed. Though everything else on my monitor is incredible small atm because of the lower DPI-setting. My suggestion to Malwarebytes is to remove the picture in the update window for people with different DPI on their monitor.

Thanks everyone!
