I guess this topic is becoming a bore but I could not find a solution. I have purchased a disc copy  of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (not Pro) and tried to install it. Of course it came up with error.

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3.

When I tried to install disc it would not go past error so I could not register the programme. I downloaded the clear programme and ran it. What is supposed to happen after rebooted. I lost my instructions thereafter.

I ended up downloading the new free programme but I would like to install my paid programme.

Please help Thank you

Hello and welcome, KerryMcc: :)

Error 732 was retired a long time ago with a much older version of the program: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138&page=1#entry162097

So, it sounds as if the CD you purchased contains a  very old, outdated program version?

I would suggest that you cleanly re-install the program not from the CD, but from a fresh download of the current version of the program, by following the steps explained in this pinned topic: MBAM Clean Removal Process

>>The program that you download and install is the same for Free and PRO.

Once you install it, use the license ID and key you received with your CD purchase to activate the PRO features (the ID and key are usually on the CD sleeve).

Please let us know if this resolves you issue.

Thanks!

I am following this outline as you have shown but now I get stuck. When I go todown load latest version it takes me  to Techspot to download the progrfamme. I'm having trouble saving this file to desktop - it runs automatically. (free version) . Am I supposed to download paid version?

Hi:

Sorry you are still having trouble. :(

Perhaps it might help if you print out the instructions in the tutorial or from this post?

Then, just take your time and follow them one by one - it sounds more complicated than it is.

If you have a paid license and would prefer instead to get one-on-one help from the support team via email, please submit a ticket by completing this form here: Contact Consumer Support. The support team will work with you directly via email to get upgraded, activated and working correctly.

If you want to try again to upgrade with help here at the forum, I will try to explain things better.

To answer your specific questions:

  • When you download the program to install, it is the same installer for both Free and PRO. After you install it, you will use your ID and key to activate the PRO features. So, all of the links to download the program have the same program file -- there are no different sites for "Free" and "PRO".
  • When you click the link to download the program installer, it will take you to one of several "mirror" sites.  Just be sure to ONLY click on the button to download the MBAM program, not any other product offered on those pages.
    • When you do, you want to save the file to your desktop first. Do not run it from the downloads window.

So, let's see if this helps:

1. >>>FIRST and FOREMOST: before you start, please be sure you have the license ID and Key handy that you received with your CD.

2. >>>Then, please UNinstall the old version by following these steps copied from AdvancedSetup's tutorial:

  • Please download mbam-clean.exe from here to your desktop and save it. (NOTE: Please save it to your desktop first, without running it.)
  • Please close all open applications and temporarily shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts when running the tool.
  • Locate the file mbam-clean.exe and double-click to run it and follow the onscreen prompts.
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important!!!

3. >>>Then, please download, install, update and activate/register the current version by following AdvancedSetup's instructions:

  • After the computer restarts, ensure that your antivirus is enabled and download the latest version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here and save it to your desktop.
    • If you are taken to a mirror site for the program download, be sure you do not click a link to download any other program that might be offered, JUST MBAM.
  • Now close all open applications including your browser and again temporarily disable your antivirus as before and launch the Malwarebytes installer you just downloaded.
  • Please make sure to uncheck the Trial checkmark near the end of the installation.
  • Please make sure you check for updates at the end of the installation as well.
  • Launch the program and click on the Activation button. Then copy and paste your activation ID and Key into the dialog box. This should automatically enable Protection and offer to add an automated update schedule which you should allow or ensure that you create one on your own to keep the program updated.
  • Now setup any file exclusions as may be required for your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and then enable your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
  • Restart the computer again and verify that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is in the task tray running

Please post back and let us know how it goes or whether you opted to get help with this from the Support Help Desk.

Thanks for your patience,
