problem to remove a "malware"

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, i think i have a problem with a malware, first of all i run a program (not malwarebytes) in my PC and it find a malware on a file called ApplicationUpdater. This other program was not able to delete it, so i start searching how i could delete it, and i end up here in the forum, in this post (http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=129134), and i downloaded the malwarebytes and do a fullscan and it didn`t find nothing, i don`t know, maybe cause the other program put the file in a quarantine maybe, but i`m worried cause it`s still on my pc, what can i do to check if it`s a malware or not?

Thanks

Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop
dds.scr
dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.
Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.
A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file

Well nothing conclusive in that scan but I do see that you have an iObit program installed so here is a little information about that.

Advanced SystemCare 6

The company behind this product was found to be stealing our database.
Personally I would not trust installing any software from a company that resorts to stealing someone's technology to sell their product.
Please see the following links and make up your own mind if you want to keep this on your system. If needed I can help you remove it.

Let's have you go ahead though and run the following steps as it will detect and remove infections for us.  When running these tools you need to close your browser and all other open applications.  If needed please print out the steps before proceeding.

Please run the following steps and post back all the logs as ATTACHMENTS by clicking on the More Reply Options button.
Please don't put logs in code or quote tags or copy/paste them into your reply unless you're unable to attach them.
Please enable your system to show hidden files: How to see hidden files in Windows

  • Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided.

These are all the logs sir.

As you said about iobit, i read and i`m convinced, but the owner is my notebook is my brother, he is travelling and i can`t uninstall without him allowing me, but i`ll talk to him when he come back, he is the one who uses these utorrents and similars.

I found all these programs that you ask me to run very interesting, is there any thread here in the forum talking about them, and how/when use them, or about programs that the admins usually recommend to use when the computer is infected?

Thanks again

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

How is the computer running now?  Are you still seeing any signs of an infection?

Next, download Security Check from here or here.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Please uninstall all versions of Java and update your Adobe Reader.

Unfortunately some settings for Chrome will have been removed and I'm not aware of any method to restore them without some type of a backup.

The computer appears to be clean from infections at this time from what is being shown in the current logs.

System Restore can recover a lot of things but typically it does not backup items like that.

You can try it if you like, but be forewarned that you potentially might bring back the infection.
