Detect more BHOs as PUPs?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

As per my previous topics it is very hard to remove BHOs such as Smoto Toolbar, Sweetpacks, and even Brothersoft.

Will Malwarebytes ever consider including these in their PUP detecting? Even if this are not considered malware, I think we can all agree they are potentially unwanted programs as the user was coerced into installing them and they do not always have an easy or full uninstaller.

Thank you..

Every anti malware company has specific criteria in the determination of greyware and PUPs.

When it comes to PUPs it may boil down to the End User License Agreement (EULA) and if it spells out what is installed and what the software does and if that EULA is displayed PRIOR to installing any components..  If an installation package shows a EULA that spells out what is being installed and what the software does and you click to continue, as if you are in agreement, Malwarebytes may not consider it for inclusion.

All you can do is submit samples of any installer to Malwarebytes so they can "test" the software to see if it fits falls under their criteria for signature inclusion.
