Extracting quarantine files outside of MB?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have received some quarintine files that I would like to extract for further analysis and sandboxing. Is this possible? For example, most AV vendors zip and encrypt or encode quarantine files when they make a detection of a known threat or heurstics. I know MB is not AV, however the ability to extract quarintined files from MB without MB would be a huge help for me.

Any insight on this is greatly appreciated,

The person you received them from would have to first restore them and then send them to you. As far as I know there is no option in the consumer version and I don't believe Malwarebytes' would be able to provide a way to decode quarantined files for obvious security reasons.

You'll have to wait for a staff member to confirm this.

Hello and :welcome:

You are correct, Malwarebytes is not an AV, but MBAM also encrypt the files that it detects. There is no way that I know of for you to decrypt the files outside of Malwarebytes (at least not available to the public).

The only thing you can do is restore the quarantined file using Malwarebytes (with the computer that detected it).
