Free version crashes when doing FULL SCAN

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and have a question.  Everytime I try and do a full scan after downloading the free version (1.75.0.1300), it crashed about 3 mintues in.  The quick scan works fine.

Is this a common issue?  It is on a brand new hard drive, yet it did this as well on my old hard drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Dave

Hello and :welcome:

Sorry to hear your having issues scanning your computer, this could be due to several things, so please provide the logs below so that we can try and isolate the issue....

DDS Scan - mbam check - Minitoolbox Scans

Please run the following scans and post back the logs and we'll take a look at what's going on.

STEP 01

Please create an mbam-check log:

  • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
  • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
  • Please do not copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your next post, instead please attach the log CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next post
STEP 02

Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop

dds.scr

dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.

Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.

A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt

You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file

STEP 03

Please download MiniToolBox save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following check-boxes:

  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using Reset FF Proxy Settings option Firefox should be closed.

Thanks

Hello, davemsc: :)

Please follow Trusted Advisor Firefox's advice to post back with the requested logs.

They will provide the staff with a bit of info to help them pinpoint the cause and the solution for you.

Hi,  solaris: :)

Sorry you are still having trouble with the full scan, as you reported earlier here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=129544

The advice was/is the same.

However, as each computer is unique, it would be best if you would post the requested information back in your own topic, or in a help desk ticket >>HERE<<, rather than cross-posting in another member's thread. :)

The staff & expert members will be more than happy to assist you, but they will need some additional information in order to do that.

Thanks very much for your understanding,
