virus totally locked down my pc

Recommended Posts

my pc ( windows XP sp 2)

recently was infected by unknown virus from an infected thumb drive.

cannot clean the virus because no anti virus and anti malware was installed.

VIRUS BEHAVIOR

  • the virus disables all the admin privileges ( regedit, task manager, folder options, literally all admin tools will automatically close if i opened it. )
  • the virus will not allow safe mode( in safe mode, with networking and command prompt)
  • the virus will change the folder to .exe file type ( some essential folders like the directory of my download will automatically close if opened. )
  • the virus will not allow the installation of anti virus, anti rootkit and anti malware programs ( windows security and 3rd party )
  • the virus will infect other pc ( though only shared folders are the only ones being attempted to be infected.) through router ( but my other pc had anti virus installed in it so no problem blocking the virus. )
  • lastly the virus slows down my pc ( but it will only last for 10-20mins and my pc will return to normal speed after the 20mins slow down. ) and if i will shutdown my pc after the 20mins slowdown it will ask to force end SOCKET_WINDOWS service ( if i shutdown my pc earlier between the 10-20mins slowdown timeframe it will just shutdown normally without asking force end of SOCKET_WINDOWS. )

I hope someone will diagnose what is happening and a fix for it.

It would be better to run RogueKiller first:

Please download and run RogueKiller 32 Bit to your desktop.

RogueKiller 64 Bit <---use this one for 64 bit systems

Quit all running programs.

For Windows XP, double-click to start.

For Vista or Windows 7-8, do a right-click on the program, select Run as Administrator to start, & when prompted Allow to run.

Click Scan to scan the system.

When the scan completes > Close out the program > Don't Fix anything!

Don't run any other options, they're not all bad!!!!!!!

Post back the report which should be located on your desktop.

(please don't put logs in code or quotes)
