Potential Conflict with avast! Network Shield

Recommended Posts

I've received an MBAM notification informing me that it's blocked a potentially malicious IP.

This occured whilst using a safe forum, and I have no doubt the block was due to an image hosted on a blocked IP.

However, I don't understand why the process involved with the block is avastsvc.exe. Is this due to a conflict between MBAM Website Blocking and avast! Network Shield?

Judging by the defintion of avast! Network Shield: "The Network Shield blocks access to known malicious websites" I assume there is a conflict between MBAM and avast!?

Any help greatly appreciated.

No what happens is avast is using a device driver that loads sooner so any threat will show that avast is is the process because it monitors everything. So whether or not it detects it - the traffic goes through their driver.

Okay, thank you for the explanation.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you for such an excellent piece of software, and the service that comes with it!
