Harnessing the power

Nothing the child is doing in the video appears violent to me. Perhaps to the uninitiated, martial arts is a violent thing, but to most who have learned martial arts, it is anything but. Quite the opposite. It's more about discipline and harmony of mind, body and spirit.

For 3 years I was a student of one of the most violent martial arts in existence; a style designed to kill efficiently above all else. My master told us that if years from now after our training if we ever returned to him and said "Master, I have never used this." that he would say "Good, I've taught you well."

Nunchucks (Nunchaku) are a defacto weapon created in Okanawa Japan.

This is not like a case where a child is playing with a toy, he is playing with an actual weapon.  That child is at an age where he has not the mental facilities yet deal with this appropriately.

I am all for teaching the Martial Arts to children.  It brings discipline and mental focus to the table.  However, age appropriate Martial Arts is Hand to Hand, not using dangerous weapons.

If he were purposefully being trained to hurt someone I'd agree but they are not real Nunchucks and none of us know the reason for the training.  Often its only for theatrical demonstration.  There are also demonstrations by young kids (not this young) using swords and it's only for demonstration and appears to be enjoyed by many.  I know a couple of young adults that used to participate in it and now in their adult life haven't done it for years.

I've always wanted to learn martial arts.  I did have a few lessons when I was about 13, but then the teacher stopped the class, and I've not had a chance to try again since then. :(  I know a few things, though :)

Samuel, sounds like you had an amazing teacher :)

Hehe, those little plastic 'chucks aren't going to hurt anyone. Real wood 'chucks are far heavier and I doubt he'd be able to wield them even if given access to them (which I am guessing he is not). The practice pair will give him good coordination though and he'll be well prepared for when he gets older and is ready for the real deal.

Sure.  However there is a greater potential with this than the vast majority of the other million or so possibilities exacerbated by the age of the wielder and his lack of understanding the consequences of his action.  A responsible adult should,/would not put such a device in the hands of a child.  It just isn't age appropriate.

Are you saying that you somehow can decide what is responsible or not for 7 billion or so people?

Should we make some more laws and outlaw sticks and stones from everywhere on the Planet too as they might hurt someone, and I suppose as leader of the free World it is our responsibility to enforce that around the World regardless of other opinions.

Are you also judgmental of Parents that allow their kid to ride a motorized bike below the age of 16??

Just saying.... you're being a bit accusatory which though is an opinion is starting to stretch being an opinion when you now make claims to a persons standards that don't match those that you were taught. So though I agree you have every right to your opinion please don't make it personal beyond that.
