IE wont work.. neither will FireFox

Recommended Posts

I am very annoyed with my computer. IE keeps "circling" but won't open pages or tells me there is an internal server error even for google.com.. same with Firefox. I ran a virus scan and still not better. I also downloaded CCleaner and it cleaned a lot but still not working. I am good with computers - I am a computer programmer - but I do not know what to look for in the logs of malware scans and such because I have never had a bad virus issue. Can someone please either help me or tell me what I'm looking for?

Also, this may be an issue with my computer but since it is a dinosaur of computers (bought it when Vista first came out). I have upgraded memory (~4 years ago), installed Win7(when it came out) and replaced the harddrive (~1.5 years ago) so I'm worried my computer might be reaching its end. I also have it backed up to my external harddrive using Genie.

Any help is much appreciated! And I will reply, don't worry about that..... but it might take me a day or 2 since I'm a single mother and very busy... and I am going out of town 7/2 through 7/8 to visit my very old Grandparents so please don't disable this thread if we are still working by then.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and :welcome:

Please run the following scanner and post back your logs and we'll take a look

Please run the following scanner and send back the logs.

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save to your Desktop
dds.scr
dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once downloaded you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.
Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool.
Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.
A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please include the following logs in your next reply as an attachment: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file

Thanks

Well it appears that your Norton is also having trouble running correctly and is not loading one of it's drivers.

I would suggest following the advice from the topic here Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

Thanks
