Startmenu setting change prompts as virus detected

Greetings,

Here I thought I had a virus. After reading where that entry was in the registry, making that change again to hide the "my computer" in the startmenu and this entry still reads as a virus hijack. The entry reads as PUM.Hijack.Startmenu, but I'm pretty sure MBAM reads this as a possible virus change and not my actual user defined option. Honestly I have a "My Computer" icon right on the desktop. I checked this, changing the setting to hide the icon and ran a quick scan, still shows up as a virus. Now my system tray icons don't all show up because of this.

Greetings and welcome :)

We correctly detect this entry as PUM which means Potentially Unwanted Modification. We use this detection type for changes made to system settings which are known to be modified by malware. If you are the one who made this change then you may add this detection to your ignore list. You may also change how Malwarebytes Anti-Malware handles any future PUM detections via the drop down menu provided for it under Scanner Settings in the Settings tab.
