New Message From NIS Says MBAM Conflicting

There is probably another thread out there but I couldn't find it. But this concerns the message popping up lately from Norton saying that MBAM is conflicting with NIS and to uninstall MBAM. Is this a real concern? And the weird thing is that I have both of my PCs installed with the paid MBAM and NIS yet only my pc has this message.

Yes, we're aware of it and have contacted Symantec already. They've agreed to remove the message in a future update as there is actually no conflict between the two of them.

Norton release an update to NIS and NAV today and it no longer flags MB as a conflict. New version is 20.4.0.40

All is not good with the Norton update.

The situations where you won't see the incompatibility message are:

- If you install Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, or Norton 360 20.4 (not applying a patch to 20.4 from LiveUpdate, but rather installing the full 20.4 product) on a system with Malwarebytes, you will not receive the incompatibility message upon install.

- In 20.4, the automatic scan that used to run and popup the Malwarebytes incompatibility message has been disabled. This would happen every few weeks. That automatic scan is gone for 20.4.

The situations where you will see the incompatibility message are:

- If you patched to 20.4 via LiveUpdate and run Support > Get Support manually, you'll still get the incompatibility message. However, that message has more information than the previous one.

- If you patched to 20.4 via LiveUpdate and encounter an error in your 20.4 product, and the support tool is triggered, you'll still get the incompatibility message. This is treated the same as if you were to run Get Support manually, as it isn't an automated event.

Norton has not impressed me with their 2013 offerings at all. I am glad I stayed with 2012 and will probably look elsewhere in the future.
