Deleted good files by mistake

Hello- After running a simple scan, I deleted 3 files that apparently were important because my laptop has been having issues ever since. I don't recall the files specifically, but it seems to me they were all related to "user set-up". Afterwards I received an notice stating that my computer was trying to open a file that isn't there. Later, when struggling to get back on the net I noticed it got hung up looking for cache files. The laptop now keep getting hung up every few seconds no matter what I'm doing and takes forever to load a webpage if it can load it at all. Is there anyway to find out exactly what file(s) I deleted and then restore/retrieve them? Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!
