Registry data infected

After running the scan, the following was detected:

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\control panel|HomePage (PUM.Hijack.HomePageControl) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> Quarantined and repaired successfully.

I removed it but, my operating system still stops working (not responding shows up in browser) and some of my programs (word, etc) are affected as well. Any suggestions? Scans I have run after this was removed, show no malicious items.

Any help is appreciated! I have Windows 7
