Must Protection Module Run All The Time?

Recommended Posts

I've been using MB for several years and have been really happy with it. I did not use the Protection Module functions, but updated and ran it manually each night. I recently enabled PM and the computer's performance has dipped. Mbamservice.exe consumes anywhere from 35 to 125mb of RAM, and it seems to make the hard drive tick over almost constantly.

So my question is this: If I was happy with my modus operandi, can I disable the protection module so my PC will run more happily? Or at least disable the Start PM With Windows?

Cheers

Well that is certainly up to you, but there are way more reasons to have the Protection module running than not.

The benefit of having the consumer PRO license is the advantage of scheduled updating and scanning plus the security of our RealTime Protection Module. The realtime protection module uses our advanced heuristic scanning technology which monitors your system to keep it safe and secure by blocking unwanted downloads or executable files from running.

Another important feature is our malicious website blocking, meaning that sites known to be malicious will not load on your system thereby avoiding a potential malware infestation.

The PRO version also updates its database incrementally, meaning downloading updates will use far less bandwidth over your internet connection and take much less time to complete.

All that being said, if you want to disable it and continue to do it all manually, that is fine as well.

What antivirus software are you using, and have you entered exceptions to avoid possible conflicts?
