Rootkit infection

Recommended Posts

I am convinced that I have a rootkit infection. I began running spybot, as well as malwarebytes anti-malware programs because my computer was running slower than usual. Spybot continuously identifies problems that, once removed, reappear later, and they happen to be in the registry directories. Spybot rootkit scanner seems to detect problems in the MBR, but when I run the complete scan, nothing happens. Malwarebytes doesn't detect any problems. However, internet browser extensions continue to be installed without administrator permissions. (As a side note: I suspect that the problems I am experiencing may be the result of the fact that my girlfriend spends over 10 hours a day playing Second Life--please let me know your opinion about that.) I was instructed through another post on this forum to run dds.scr, and then attach the results to this topic. Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.
