Internet Disabled, Can't update Malware bytes

Recommended Posts

My Lenovo desktop is obviously infected with a malware of some sort, I was able to boot into safe mode to put malware bytes off my portable hard drive onto my desktop. However its not updated to a recent version, and the virus has disabled my connection to the internet. I have tried several options in CMD prompt to enable the internet but I cannot find the correct command. Please help!

Hello and welcome to MalwareBytes forum.

Kindly advise if you have resolved this issue already.

If not, then kindly tell me if you have a hardware router between the incoming internet modem and your Lenovo desktop system ?

A copy of the latest MBAM scan log would be good to see --- even if the definitions may not be the latest. Please see about copying & pasting that into a new reply.

The following you can give one try:

Download & SAVE to your Desktop Complete Internet Repair

from >> here <<

You will then see a yellow-box-carton icon on your Desktop.

If on Windows 7, or Vista, do a Right-Click and select Run as Administrator and allow to run.

If on Windows XP, double-click the icon.

Next, press Extract button.

You will next see a Complete Internet Repair folder on the Desktop.

Navigate inside that folder

If on Windows 7, or Vista, do a Right-Click on CIntRep.exe and select Run as Administrator and allow to run.

If on Windows XP, double-click on CIntRep.exe.

You will then see the window (as shown below)

Click on the checkbox for each of these:

Reset Internet Protocol

Reset Winsock (reset catalog)

Renew Internet Connections

Flush DNS Resolver cache

Repair Internet Explorer

Review the selections to make sure they are Checkmarked.

Then press Go! button

When done exit the app.
