stscam Posted April 30, 2013 ID:675279 Share Posted April 30, 2013 For the past few months I've noticed that my internal hard drives (a pair, set up as a Raid) have been running almost constantly. Sometimes a drive ticks on for a few seconds every few seconds; or ticks on and stays on for a few minutes. This happens whether I'm performing any tasks or not. Is this normal? Could it be a virus? Could it be Norton AntiVirus just going about its business? Could it be the Raid just going about their businesses? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Another would be search indexing, particularly if you're running Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8. When the PC is idle, it indexes your files and folders.
