Issue with keypad and FN key

Recommended Posts

Not sure what is going on.

Using a laptop that does not have a dedicated number pad. Instead, it utilizes an FN key and the right side of the QWERTY board to return number pad characters. However, last week my laptop inverted the functionality. If I hit the 'p' key the '*' character is returned. If I hold down the FN key and press the 'p' key the 'p' character is returned. The computer does not exhibit this behavior at the log on screen, and it only occurs on a particular user account, i.e. if I switch to the Administrator account the keyboard works normal.

I have run the Malware software with zero threats identified. I have also run a number of other tools with similiar negative results. Please help if you can.

Bump.

Anyone have any ideas? Also, IE crashes on the affected profile only. Starts fine on admin profile.

Hello smongeon23 and welcome to MalwareBytes forums.

Have you resolved the issue with the keyboard function key? If not, have you checked and researched on your computer manufacturer's support website ? for help on the function key.

If not, I'd urge you to do so.

You noted MBAM found no issue. Have you also done a full scan with your Avira antivirus ?
