IP-BLOCK 157.238.74.128 Many Times. Help?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Malwarebytes Pro user here for a few months. I have to say, it's been worth the investment. Especially after this started happening around midnight.

So... Many Times? Well, 25 times since midnight CST to be exact.

I tried both Firefox and Chrome and got the block on both programs. Only other program I've had open today was Steam.

I've seen it block a few over the last few months... But never so many times from the same IP. Trace says it's supposedly from Engelwood Colorado?

Is my computer at risk here? What do I need to do?

Here's the step's I've taken so far.

1. Ran CCleaner

2. Ran Updated MSE Full Scan

3. Ran MalwareBytes Flash Scan, then Quick, then Full.

Everything came back clean.

I am not an IT professional. I know my way around the computer in a consumer way only; however, I can follow instructions well. :)

Help me out here, please.

Thanks in advance

Hi, metaphysix:

Welcome. :)

Until an MBAM staffer stops by, here's a bit of basic info about MBAM's IP blocking module:

IP blocks can mean a number of things (MBAM is >>doing its job<< of blocking bad websites/bad content on websites; an expected occurrence when running Skype and certain P2P software; rarely, a False Positive; or, a sign of possible infection, especially if the blocks are outgoing and they occur with no browsers open).

After reading the above referenced topics, if you think you might be infected, please follow the recommendations in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

A qualified expert will guide you through additional scans and cleanup tools, in order to disinfect your systems.

Thanks very much,

I also read that due to last nights issue, I may have better luck posting here as well.

Hi:

You're most welcome. :)

However, the IP blocks that you are experiencing are not related to last night's issue. :)

The most efficient way to get help with this is by posting the requested info in the correct section of the forum.

So:

If you think they may be a false positive, please follow the steps in this pinned topic >>HERE<<, and then please post the requested info >>HERE<<. The MBAM researchers will determine if the block on that particular IP can or cannot be safely removed.

If, on the other hand, you think you might have adware or malware infections, then please start with the steps in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers. A qualified helper will assist you with looking into this further.

Thanks,

daledoc1
