Computer boots to black screen after prompt to restart my computer after quick scan

Recommended Posts

So I downloaded Malwarebytes in hopes that it could remove some things and then my computer would run faster. Big mistake apparently.

Okay so I ran a quick scan. When it was done there were at least 100 trojans on my computer. I clicked remove and the program did its business. I eventually got a prompt to shut down my computer and then restart to effectively remove everything. So I did.

Now when I turn on my computer it just boots to black. The windows start screen pops up and then just goes to black. I dont even get to the log in screen. I can see and move my cursor. I cant open task manager. It does the same thing in safe mode. Still cant open task manager.

Can It even be helped at this point? I cant really give you any information about what I was removing.

Oh now my cursor just disappeared. Cool.

Im typing this all on my iphone btw. Its the only thing with internet I have access to now.

I feel like an idiot because the only reason I ran this program was so something wouldnt eventually do this to my computer and I would lose all my things. Dont really have the resources or the time to back everything up.

Sorry if this is coming off as rant-y but Im just really frustrated and in disbelief rn.

That would be helpful if I hadnt already stated that I can't boot my computer in Safe Mode either. I contacted Home Support because I'm assuming that's the only thing anyone is going to tell me to do. And I really hope they help me considering the fact I only have the free version. We'll see I guess.

And I'm sorry if I sound a little snippy. Really any help is appreciated Im just upset that this product many people I know have been raving about screwed up my computer within an hour of me deciding to try it out. Thank you though.

No, your tone and level of stress is perfectly understandable and reasonable and I do not hold it against you at all.

They will assist you even though you're a free user. Assisting all of our users, free or paid, is our priority here and we just want to make sure that we're able to get your system back to working order as soon as possible and I apologize again for this incident and all of the anxiety it has caused you. I know how it is to go through something like this as a couple of years ago my antivirus did something similar and I couldn't boot the computer afterwards and had to resort to other means to fix my system (including a repair installation of Windows).

I hope that you are able to quickly get things back to normal again and thank you for your patience in this matter.
