yes fortunately my computer survived this huge FP... i did a system restore and everything is fine now. but it will take a long time (if ever) before I trust MalwareBytes to protect my computer again. I will keep it but don`t use the proactive protection.

I am not 100% sure if that is why I had to re format last night but had my paid version of malwarebytes password protected and the password would not work for me to get into the program . Non of my passwords worked for that matter and couldn't get in to Safe Mode either

FYI - the posted fix worked on XP and Windows 7 Pro worked for me. I have another Win 7 machine that had the unable to login issue, Safe mode then system restore corrected that.

Do not delete the Quarantined files. The only issue I cannot correct is where someone deleted these files. MBAM doing a good job of responding quickly.

Thanks

I am happy to say that i was not affected by this. :) I could say though that malwarebytes has a slow false positive detections when compared to some other programs.

I don't think you realize just how badly this crippled folks - anyone with the PRO version has the ability to turn on realtime updating - which basically means MBAM checks around every 5 minutes for an update.

I was sitting in front of my computer last night when it downloaded the update and started a flash scan - here is the result: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=125127

I was one of the first to report it, but by then the support channel calls and forum posts were multiplying.

If anything, this happened b/c MBAM is so *fast* to detect a threat. As for detecting a FP - sure, they did - but all those thousands or even tens of thousands of PRO customers, both consumer and business, were already affected at that point.

The updated database was released, from what I can tell, within 30 minutes of me receiving the bad database - but by then countless thousands of people were left crippled or dead in the water.

System restore is able to help in that respect, but that is why they are telling people to use the support channel - it's one on one support with no interference from others like here in the forums - granted, the interference is usually good, and a lot faster right now b/c support is swamped, but in the long run, I think it is better for novices and new computer users and those not very savvy to stick to the support channels.
