Am I blocking genuine BT access?

Recommended Posts

Hi

First of all thanks for a great product.

I am regularly getting a "malwarebytes has blocked a potentially...etc..."

IP address:

217.41.223.104

Now this is a BT IP address and i am worried that I might be blocking an update from BT to my Home Hub.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome, somniac:

IP blocks can mean a number of things (MBAM is doing its job of blocking bad websites/bad content on websites; an expected occurrence when running Skype and certain P2P software; rarely, a False Positive; or, a sign of possible infection).

It appears that this same IP was already recently reported as a possible False Positive: IP address 217.41.223.104 blocked

>>According to MBAM research engineer, Mystery FCM, this is not a false positive: http://forums.malwar...ndpost&p=668493

I would suggest that you please follow the recommendations given to the OP in that other topic to have a malware expert assist with checking your system for malware.

To do that, please follow the recommendations in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

Thanks,
