[OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2

Hi everyone,

I'm using the full version of MBAM on Vista Home Premium SP1 (32bit).

MBAM just popped up and said [OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2

Haven't seen this before; wondering if maybe someone here has?

Edit: I guess the protection module was trying to load... I opened MBAM and tried to start it manually; got this message:

[CreateService] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 1073

..followed by..

The MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware Protection module is already running! (it isn't)

I know I remember seeing someone else with that error. I seem to recall that only a reboot was needed. Try that first and see if it works and in the meantime I'll dig around and see if I can find that post.

Rebooted and the protection module loaded without any problems; must have been an isolated incident..

No problem, I've seen a few quirky issues like this with the protection module, my best guess is that there's some sort of intermittent issue with the driver(s) that it uses.

No quirk. Logoff then Logon without a reboot. The MAW icon in the System tray will be gone and in a few minutes the

[OpenEvent] popup will occur!!!

For future reference, I have been told that Error Code 2 means you have an outdated copy of the protection module, so it's probably just an issue verifying the version of the protection module. If restarting your computer doesn't help, then you can always follow these instructions to reinstall.

My MBAM Service shows "Automatic" for now.

Although, I did try restarting the Service in Taskmgr and it didn't restore the Icon in the System Tray several times yesterday...
