Do I have to renew my free MB

Recommended Posts

:welcome:

Please follow these steps and make sure to untick the enable trial box at the end of installation.

Please do the following and let us know if this corrects the issue for you or not.

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
You can also look up your ID and Key from the Registry and copy and paste it to a Notepad document before running the mbam-clean utility.
      Location for Windows x86

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

      Location for Windows x64

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

I keep getting your trial has expired. How do I keep the free download current

Hello and welcome, squatch97402:

Perhaps I don't fully understand your question... :(

Actually, there's nothing to renew, as there is no license with MBAM Free.

Even with MBAM PRO, the consumer license is lifetime and needs no renewal, either. :)

If you just want to revert to the free version of MBAM after your trial of MBAM PRO has expired, all that's needed is to follow the steps explained in this KB article: I keep getting notified that my trial has expired, how do I revert to the free version?

With MBAM Free, it is important to manually update the DATABASES before each scan. To do that, open the program from your desktop shortcut, click the "update" tab, and then "check for updates" button: How to update Malwarebytes

If you are referring to PROGRAM updates, then I am pretty sure that even MBAM Free can be configured to prompt/download updates (see screenshot).

This likewise would be part of your manual updates check (since automatic, scheduled database and program updates are only a PRO feature).

If I am mistaken about this latter point (manual program updates), I'm sure an MBAM staffer or expert member will correct me. ;)

HTH,
