virus/malware or not? please help

Hello,

I have a HP pavilion laptop running on windows 7. The other day HP support assistant re-downloaded/updated. Since this occurred I have been experiencing black script/control boxes popping up on the screen for no reason. On the first occasion I disconnected from the internet (wireless) and ran an AVG antivirus scan which found nothing.

After reading a few forums I tried to uninstall the HP support assistant but a black box appeared with white writing: `0 file (s) copied 1 file (s) copied` so I stopped the uninstall. Nothing on the computer seems affected, no files are hidden and can use and access everything.

After reading a few more forums I downloaded malware bytes and ran a full comp scan which also found nothing.

I still have the black boxes appearing

Is this a virus/malware? If yes or no what is it and what do I need to do?

Please explain in simple terms as I am not familiar with computer terms

Any help much appretiated

Many thanks

Run the following diagnostic scanner:

Download and save DDS to your Desktop from either of the following links:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

http://compendiate.net/sUBs/dds/dds.scr

Note: You must use Internet Explorer to download dds.scr, other browsers will open the file in the browser and not save it. Or if you must use Firefox, or Chrome, then right click the link and select "save link as" and save the file to your desktop.

Double-click the dds.scr file to run the program.

It will automatically run in silent mode and then you will see the following note:

"Two logs shall be created on your Desktop"

The logs will be named dds.txt and attach.txt".

Wait until the logs appear and then copy and paste their contents in your post.

Next,

download RogueKiller from here http://tigzy.geekstogo.com/Tools/RogueKiller.exe or here http://www.sur-la-toile.com/RogueKiller/RogueKiller.exe and save Direct to your Desktop.

  • Quit all running programs
  • Please disconnect any USB or external drives from the computer before you run this scan!
  • For Vista/Seven, right click -> run as administrator, for XP simply run RogueKiller.exe
  • Wait until Prescan has finished...
  • The following EULA will appear, please select accept
    RKLicence.png
  • Ensure MBR scan, Check faked and AntiRootkit are checked
  • Select Scan
    RK1A.png
  • When the scan completes select Report, copy and paste that to your reply.
    RK2A.png
  • The log should be found in RKreport[?].txt on your Desktop
  • Exit/Close RogueKiller
