Icons, files & pics all gone! Malware infection....help!

After downloading a file recently all my icons, files, & pics suddenly disappeared. I've looked on your site & downloaded DDS, Combofix, Hijackthis yet none will open. :( I also tried downloading and opening Malwarebytes Chameleon, but it still won't run. Not sure what to do. I just want to get my pics & files back so that I can save them. After that I can just do a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit. Help!!

Downloaded Unhide.exe & ran that several times. Nothing new popped up. I can see the folders of where my old pics were, but the file sizes all say 1kb for the folder.

Hi and welcome, Nzsurfer: :)

Whatever you do, don't run any sort of temp file cleaner -- doing so may make your data unrecoverable.

It's also not a good idea to run the powerful malware tools -- such as Combofix -- without expert help.

We don't work on malware related issues in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert help with cleaning and with attempting to recover your files/folders/data, please follow the recommendations in this sticky topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

Thanks,

Hi:

If you would like help here in the forums, please start by following the instructions >>HERE<<.

Then, please start a new post with the requested DDS scan logs in the malware-removal area of the forum >>HERE<<.

A qualified malware expert will help you to clean your computer and try to recover your data.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,
