Website skfjkhcdc**.com

I have an infected laptop that is giving alerts about being infected and a browser window that opens and tries to go to skfjkhcdc**.com I do not want to post the whole URL. The first * is an s and second asterisk is a h.

MB 1.34 with all update detects 2 infections concerning the file userinit.exe and says it removed the problem. After rebooting the laptop the same problem returns and MB find and fixes it again. System restore is off, and Spybot S&D runs clean.

I have run scans in both regular and Safe Mode with the same results.

Does anyone have any experiernce getting rid of this problem?

Thanks,

Rob

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes.org

If you're having Malware related issues with your computer that you're unable to resolve.

  1. Please read and follow the instructions provided here: I'm infected - What do I do now?
  2. If needed please post your logs in a NEW topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs
  3. When posting logs please do not use any Quote, Code, or other tags. Please copy/paste directly into your post and do not attach files unless requested.
  • Please do not post any logs in the General forum. We do not work on any logs posted in the General forum.
  • Please do not install any software or use any removal/scanning tool except for those you're requested to run by the Helper that will assist you.
  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.
  • If you have already submitted for assistance at one of the other support sites on the Internet then you should not post a new log here, you should stay working with the Helper from that site until the issue is resolved.
  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just proceed and post a NEW topic as shown in the second link describing your issues and someone will assist you as soon as they can.

Thanks for the reply.

The laptop I am trying to fix is my boss's laptop at work. He uses this laptop as a back system and uses it to transfer files from his main laptop at work to his own system at home.

After I tried to fix his laptop and posted my original message here, he took it home. He transfered a bunch of files to his home system and got it infected also.

He was in a hurry to get these problems fixed, and rather than wait until the next day when I could look at it again, his wife loaded several pieces of software on both systems and tried to fix the problems herself. He brought the laptop to me this morning and said the original problem is gone but he wants me to check it.

I ran MB again. The original problem was gone, but MB found 7 new infections. He said reload the OS. I did. Now he is wondering if his main laptop might have become infected from this laptop.

Thanks for your suggestions on diagnosing this problem, but I was unable to follow through to get the info you needed. I am sure I have not heard the last of this problem, but for now there is not much I can do.

Thanks,

Rob
