Malwarebytes not responding after Updated

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've encountered a problem after I updated malwarebytes in my laptop:

It's not responding everytime it started to scan 'other supporting files in computer'. Also on first scanning attempt some little windows of "bad windows...." showed up then my computer restarted itself.

Afterwards I tried to uninstall the software and re-install the older version I've already downloaded a year ago, pending the update and the old version scanned my laptop really well with no problem and with no malware detection.

Then I tried to update Malwarebytes again and re-scan and it stopped responding again when it scanned 'other supporting files..'

I wonder what caused this? Yesterday I clicked some links (from a blog) which always led me to advertisement windows that can be skipped after 8 seconds before the real page showed up. At some time Google Chrome blocked the ad page because it contained malware but at sometime it didn't block the ad page (there were different ad pages). I wonder if there are some malwares infected my laptop and prevent malwarebytes to proceed?

I am using Kaspersky antivirus in my laptop and I already run full virus scan & rootkit scan and it detected "UDS:DangerousPattern.Multi.Generic" and already deleted it.

I would really appreciate any help and any information about this. Thank you!

Hello, thank you for the reply.

I tried to run Malwarebytes again and it did stopped responding again but I didn't close the window. After a few hours a window popped up saying the scanning is successfully completed and no threats detected (fiuhh!).

It did took 6.5 hours to finish but I suppose it's working properly, isn't it?

Thanks! :)

It does not sound like it. The interface should open and be responsive in general.

A Full Scan can take a long time but normally all that is needed is a Quick Scan which is probably closer to 10 minutes or less on most systems.

We can have you run some reports here and take a look if you like but as I said you can contact the Help Desk and they will help you if you like.

Let me know what you'd like to do please.

Thanks
