XP Machines Won't Boot To Windows After 1.70 Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Sorry this first post will be one of extreme frustration. I am cutting and pasting my latest response to my ongoing MBAM Support Ticket # 300844. I have two separate licenses for Pro on two home machines.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

" Ok, I have done everything you asked, per your instructions.

The MBAM (re)install seemed to be fine. Ran quick/smart scan. Came up clean. Did ESET scan prior to MBAM install - came up clean.

Then went to re-boot and the problem is still there.

Will not boot fully into windows. Stops at select user, or sometimes gets to point of allowing password to be entered but then hangs there. Tried multiple times - same result every time.

So now we are full circle. Not trying anything on the desk top until laptop issue resolved.

To review:

I have used MBAM on desktop for about 5 years, with no problems, including upgrades.

I have used MBAM on laptop for about 2/3 years, with no problems, including upgrades.

Never had to enter any exceptions on either machine for either MBAM or ESET.

Everything worked fine for years until the 1.70 upgrade on both machines.

The upgrade rendered both machines unusable after the first attempted reboot after upgrade.

After booting in safe mode and un-installing MBAM, both machines work fine.

I believe there is a problem with your software. Not my machines, but of course I could be wrong. I am open to suggestions, but am inclined to either ask for my case to be escalated to the "next level" or just waiting for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months ?? and maybe trying again - when I feel it is likely these problems may actually be addressed by your software engineers, as it should be, rather than having me jumping through hoop after hoop at my end.

As I said, in my mind, and it now appears in others as well, our faith in MBAM to turn out a stable, reliable product has been drastically diminished. It is truly a shame that something that was considered a gold standard has been degraded in such a way.

Thank you for trying to help.
