I am not sure what I am infected with and how to remove it

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have windows 8 on a formatted hard drive on a Mac book pro air hooked up to my tv as a screen, my volume is not muted and it always boots up into windows 8 when I power it on, then all the sound acts like it is muted no matter what I do to try and fix it, so I thought it might be a virus so I try to open MalwareBytes anti-malware it refuses to run and does not popup for even 1 second and it is obviously spyware trying to prevent me from removing the virus, so what do I do?

Hi:

Until AdvancedSetup returns....

Yes, the forums are for help.

It's just that malware diagnosis and cleaning is done in a special section of the forum.

Qualified malware experts assist users there with disinfecting their computers.

The help there is free.

In that special area only the user with the infection and the helper are permitted to post -- that way, well-meaning users without proper training won't distract or interfere with the cleaning process.

In order to expedite the process, please start with the steps described in this sticky topic: I'm infected - What do I do now?

Please be patient, as the forum is quite busy this week, most of the helpers are volunteers and it's the holidays.

Someone will help you as soon as possible.

If you are paid user of MBAM PRO, there is also free help at the consumer help desk here: http://www.malwareby...ontact_consumer

As for post editing, that comes with Honorary Member status at 50 posts; this policy was needed b/c newcomers would change their posts in the middle of malware cleaning, leading to confusion for the OP and the helper.

Cheers,

Hi:

I'm sorry if the recommendations weren't clear.

It might be the case that the malware is blocking MBAM from opening or running -- this can happen.

So, let's start over from the beginning. :)

(NOTE: Bold, blue, underlined text is a hyperlink -- you can click on those to take you to the appropriate page or forum area.)

First: malware diagnosis and cleaning is performed in a separate area of the forum, not here.

This is for your safety.

The malware experts ONLY work in that malware removal section.

Sometimes it takes multiple scans and specialized tools, not just MBAM to remove certain infections.

The helpers will know what to do.

So, if you would like free expert help in the forums, please do the following:

1) Please print out, read and follow the instructions >>HERE<<.

2) Then, please start a new post in the malware removal section >>HERE<<.

Then, please wait for one of the expert helpers to reply to you -- he/she will guide you through the cleaning process.

Thanks for your patience,

daledoc1
