I suddenly got an AVG Message saying I had been infected with something and it's all gone downhill from there. (Thanks AVG.)

I ran my AVG and it found three things, none of which it can remove:

Rootkit:

WINDOWS\system32\drivers\UACmbpcbrqu.sys

Virus:

globalroot\systemroot\system32\UACmbpcbrqu.dll

WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe (1052)

I cannot access certain websites, any link on google directs me somewhere obscure. I had to go on my brother's laptop to even post here.

I tried Killbox on all three of the above files, and now when I do a quick scan with AVG it shows those three files, plus those three files in the KillBox folder.

I tried downloading Malware and renaming the files numerous times to no avail.

Some more looking online led me to this TDSS file, which I looked for in my device manager under plug and play but could not find.

Now that you know what I've done, here is my HiJack log:

While waiting for a reply I did manage to get MBAM working. It appears as if it removed everything off my computer and I'm no long redirected to weird sites off of google and can access anti virus items again.

However I'm still uneasy and want to know how badly I was compromised.

So here is my MBAM log:

  • Root Admin

You're running an OLD database for MBAM. Please reboot as requested, then update MBAM to the latest version and scan again.

Update and Scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

  • Start MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Vista users must Right click and choose RunAs Admin)
  • Please DO NOT run MBAM in Safe Mode unless requested to, you MUST run it in normal Windows mode.
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Select the Update tab
    • Click Update

[*]When the update is complete, select the Scanner tab

[*]Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

[*]When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

[*]Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

[*]When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply

    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Then post back the MBAM log and a new Hijackthis log.
