Hello,

I wanted to post about an issue I have with the latest versions of malwarebytes. I promote the program heavily at my shop. I have an issue where if the protection module activates with any antivirus present it locks the system and on XP I get a spinning hourglass and can't use external hard drives. Secondly I can't load the protection module with vista or 7 without it waiting at with the screen that says welcome. It never finishes logging it, or it goes and locks up the system with the spinning circle just like on XP hourglass mode.

Are there any fixes, I even tried the beta of 1.70.xxx and it does the same thing.

Some help would be nice.

Thanks

Marcus

Hi, marcusah: :)

Just a home user here....

Until forum admin Advanced Setup returns, freezes and hangups during scanning are often a sign of malware infection (other possibiities include software/AV clashes, corrupt files, hardware problems (such as bad disk sectors), etc).

As we don't work on malware-related issues in this section of the forum, he referred you to the 3 assistance options as a starting point. :)

The experts will assist you with scanning your system and cleaning it, if need be.

Any remaining issues would be addressed after that.

If you are running MBAM PRO, you could contact the helpdesk directly here: http://www.malwareby...ontact_consumer

However, as your post seems to suggest that you are using MBAM in a business/tech/repair shop environment, your corporate license entitles you to free support from the business support team; they can be reached here: http://www.malwareby...pport/corporate

In the interim, you could have a look at this FAQ article: http://forums.malwar...post&pid=417944

Thanks for the assistance. This isn't due to any malware infections but a problem with Malwarebytes in version 1.65.1.1000 and later. Directly after the activation of the protection module on a brand new install of windows, the system goes into hourglass mode. This used to be solved via the delay on the service in windows vista/7 and fixed with delayguistart in the registry in windows XP. This is no longer the case. I'm needing to know what actually changed and how to solve it. I can't recommend malwarebytes to anyone if it causes the USB external hard drives to lock the system on XP and go into hourglass mode on vista/7.

Hi, again: :)

Millions of folks use MBAM and we're just not seeing lots of posts about the issue you describe. :(

So there may be something going on with the particular computers you describe (e.g. a need to set mutual exclusions between the resident AV and MBAM).

In any event, the experts will need more info about the systems in question by running some scanner tools.

Since you mention that there are multiple rigs, and since you appear to be a reseller/repair shop, the most efficient way to get help is from the corporate helpdesk for which I provided the link in my earlier reply. :)

Sorry I don't have more definitive advice (this is primarily a home user forum & the staff would need some diagnostic scan logs for starters) -- I'm sure Advanced Setup will have some more definitive advice, when he returns.

Thanks for your patience,

daledoc1

Hi:

Troubleshooting for several computers on different platforms will require some diagnostics and is pretty much beyond the scope of this home user forum.

If you have not already done so, please follow Forum Admin AdvancedSetup's suggestion to open a ticket at the helpdesk -- the support team will assist you directly with diagnosing and resolving the issues on your customers' computers. :)

Thanks for your patience and understanding,
