Please Help My computer wont bootup

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much for your replies. I have one other thing. I dont know if this is a problem or not. Nothing is coming up at all in my antimalwarebytes scan. I also ran a full san with my ca antivirus and my ca antispyware and superantispywarefree and they all found nothing. The thing is I have many addons listed in my ie7 under addons that run without permission. Five different ones are aclled HPDeviceDetection.dll. Eight different ones are called msxml3.dll. There are several other microsoft and hp addons. Are these ok or should I disable them?

They appear to be okay. The HP detection dll could come from your system being an HP or having a scanner or printer, etc from HP.

[HpProductDetection Class]

InProcServer32 = C:\Program Files\HP\Common\HPDeviceDetection.dll

CODEBASE = http://h20270.www2.hp.com/ediags/gmn2/inst...ctDetection.cab

The XML parser file is from Microsoft.

Thanks I will not worry about those addons. I ran an antivirus scan today and checkied the log with ca antivirus. It said clean . But, I found the following in the log.

C:\Users\Ronni\ntuser.dat - Could not open the file.

C:\Users\Ronni\ntuser.dat.LOG1 - Could not open the file.

C:\Users\Ronni\ntuser.dat.LOG2 - Could not open the file.

C:\Users\Ronni\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Defender\FileTracker\{E5EDF08E-3F42-48D6-8E28-07A8E343419C} - Could not open the file.

C:\Users\Ronni\AppData\Local\Temp\Low\JETC7C1.tmp - Could not open the file.

Should I be worried about any of this?

With the history of your computer it could be from many things messed up in the Registry.

Try to install the following and see if that helps or not.

Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)

It should work okay. I don't have time right now but there is an article out about the VB6 runtime software even still being supported on Server 2008

This is just a guess on my part. I'm not sure where that file comes from but a few Google hits show it appears to be from some entry in programming language. Some showed hits that VB runtime files might be the cause. Again this is just a guess that it might help, but it might not do anything. I would suggest creating a New System Restore point first just in case, but I doubt there will be an issue installing it.

Click on START - RUN and type in NOTEPAD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS (there is a space after NOTEPAD) and click OK.

A default HOSTS file contains this:

# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

#

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.

#

# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each

# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.

# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one

# space.

#

# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual

# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

#

# For example:

#

# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server

# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

But if you have a managed one then it could have a lot of entries.

However any that don't start with 127.0.0.1 are probably not good.

I now ran a full scan with Windows defender it found the same thing again and now says it could not remove it. It gives me the file as

C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-w..nfrastructure-other_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_024e4071fa6fea95\hosts

what do I do?
