Major problem - related to vbalsgrid6.ocx

Recommended Posts

I try to explain what happened with background ...

For some reason my laptop screen have been going black when I try to start my PC. I then reboot it and it usually works to startup then and I get to chose "startup as normal" first.

Suddenly however, when this was failing, on restart my CU did a checkdisk or something. This backuped into old registry files.

This got me into huge problems!

I am not sure, but I had some problems earlier when installed service pack 3 for my windows 7. The backup might come from there.

Here are the problems I experience.

--> Some programs can't be started, says that I have to change internet security issues.

--> I can't download files. Gets canceled or deleted.

--> I can't cut/paste strings.

So, I googled on the problem, and eventually find that I have some problem with "vbalsgrid6.ocx".

I can't even install malware bytes, run time eror 372, vbalsgrid6.ocx issues.

I can't install Hijack This, rune time error 481 (as suggested to me when I read old thread on this subject)

I tried to follow everything on : forums.malwarebytes.org//index.php?showtopic=7377

SubInAcl suggestion doesn't work for me, from there, get same result as post #14 there (but the suggestion he got, doesn't help me)

I have used RegCure, it removed some problems, but didn't help.

Any suggestions? Please help!

I am sure I got some malware or whatnot...

Trend Micro & Spyware S&D starts, but cannot perform anything.

Hello markus910,

Let me suggest, if you're an MBAM customer, you contact the consumer help desk here.

If you are in an organization or a corporate customer, contact Corporate Support for assistance.

What is your Windows version? Windows XP ??

Note that Windows 7 does -not- have a service pack 3 !

Stay away from & do not use any registry tool (such as RegCure.... or any Other) as you will likely do much harm and no good.

Likewise do not get or run tools on your own.

We need to see a report from you before we get going much further.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com here

or http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr or

http://www.infospyware.net/sUBs/dds

Disable any script blocker if your antivirus/antimalware has it.

Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.

DDS will run in a command prompt window and will take 3 to 4 minutes or so.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please Copy & Paste contents of the following logs in your next reply:

DDS.txt

Attach.txt

Also, while following another thread on similar topic, I ran combofix.

This actually removed some of the problems I had, such as the programs that couldn't start with "internetsecurity" related issue.

It also allowed me to run Spyware S&D which found errors it fixed (I couldn't even run it before combofix).

Still can't run malwarebytes though.

A few things that we must agree on.

a) while I am helping you, do NOT get any tools, nor run any on your own. Just only follow my guidance.

Do not make any changes or fixes on your own.

b) do NOT attach logs/ reports. Always Copy ALL contents & then Paste directly into main body of reply box.

You may use separate replies for each individual log.

Paste in these 3 logs { in new replies} for my review

DDS.txt

Attach.txt

C:\Combofix.txt
