Sternmaster2 Posted December 23, 2012 ID:626381 Share Posted December 23, 2012 Hello,I am brand new to this forum and just have something to clear up. When I do a quick scan using MBAM Pro it only takes 8 seconds to scan around 220,000 objects. When I do a full scan it only takes 7 seconds to scan the same number of objects. This just does not seem right to me, because when I got a virus a year ago it took a good few minutes for the quick scan. I have updated my MBAM and I have even re-installed it. Is something wrong with it? Should I be worried?Thank you
daledoc1 Posted December 24, 2012 ID:626619 Share Posted December 24, 2012 Hi, sternmaster2: Yep, scan times can vary depending on many factors, including the amount of data/files on your system. But what you're reporting doesn't sound quite right. When you reinstalled mbam, did you do a clean reinstall, including the use of the mbam-clean tool & a reboot?Have you set the reciprocal exclusions between MBAM and your AV?Until one of the MBAM staffers arrives....The first thing to try would be a clean reinstall, including setting of those exclusions. The steps are listed below. Please follow them carefully (including the reboots when prompted) and then let us know if that resolves your issue. If it doesn't, the experts might need to run a tool or two (and to see a couple your logs) in order to obtain a bit more info about your system, so that they can pinpoint & resolve your issue.HTH,daledoc1------------------------------MBAM Clean InstallIf you are running MBAM PRO, please be sure you have your license ID and key available (sent via email at the time of online purchase, or in the box). You can also look up your ID and Key from the Registry and copy and paste it to a Notepad document before running the mbam-clean utility.Location for Windows x86HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLocation for Windows x64HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareIf you cannot locate your registration in the Registry and no longer have access to your order number you can contact Cleverbridge to obtain information about your order and registration information: Cleverbridge customer serviceDownload and run mbam-clean.exe from HERE.It will ask to restart your computer; please allow it to do so - this is very important! After the computer restarts, download the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE, then temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and run the installer. (Ignore all 'Recommended' or 'Sponsored' software which are prominently displayed on the mirror sites -- they are ads and MBAM does not have any association with them.)If you are using MBAM PRO, you will need to reactivate (register) the program using the license ID & key.Launch the MBAM program and (if you are using MBAM PRO) set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab (if not done during installation) and check for updates.Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the system tray (if using the PRO version). Now set up any file exclusions, as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications, and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQs HERE, or ask and we'll explain how to do it.
Sternmaster2 Posted December 24, 2012 Author ID:626690 Share Posted December 24, 2012 Hello daledoc1,Thank you for responding. I followed the steps and the scanner seems to work as it did when I first downloaded it. I just hope that if my MBAM Pro was corrupted, that it doesn't happen again.Thank you again
