Computer Overheats Shuts down

Recommended Posts

Hello, my Dell laptop seems to overheat and move extremely slow when doing a video call for either skype or yahoo. I have done disc cleanup, cleared cache, and have run the latest update of MB that is attached below. Also I still have TFC loaded on my computer from the last time I had problems. My somputer ESPECIALLY slows when i have Facebook open and on a video call on yahoo or skype. on my Task Manager, running yahoo messenger, skype and internet explorer under Physical Memory under the Performance Tab is states in MB Total 3892 Cached 1475 Available 1462 Free 29. Under my Hard Drive is says i have 500gb of 581 gb free. I would not think that my computer is overfull. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

Hardware overheating MUST be addressed and cured, if possible, as the 1st priority. Yours system will and should shutdown when overheating occurs. If you cannot cute the problem yourself, take it to a reliable & reputable local small repair shop {not a BigBox-store} for them to repair.

If this is a tower system, dust must be removed from the cooling fan(s) and the inside of the case cleared of dust & debri.

If this is a laptop, likewise, dust must be cleared & removed.

Ask your friends for a recommendation on a reliable repair shop.

Running a system that overheats runs the risk of damaging the processor and RAM memory & or the graphics-card.

actually it doesnt overheat and shut down often, sometimes i think it overheats, its hot to the touch, but im not sure if thats actually over heating, but when it is doing some video calls it makes the comp run really slow. It is indeed a laptop, 2011 Dell Inspiron 17R. But sometimes i will wake up in the morning and ill get the blue screen error.

The only thing is showing is that there is a problem with a driver. The problem is that it's not saying what in particular needs to be addressed. With the corruption here, at this point I suggest backing up your data, formatting your hard drive, and reinstalling Windows. That way, you get a clean slate, and whatever corruption there is will be gone..

Chris Fistonich

Well I am not sure how to correct the problem, thats why I came here, every once in a while I get a blue screen, (i have a thread on here about that too) It was some corrupt file that noone could figure out was wrong, I am thinking that would make it overheat? Also I know how to clean the intake, shut the system down and clean the screens. What way do u reccomend taking the dust and debris out? My dad knows alot abot computers and he can take it to his work for the 1 computer tech to look at 1 day..

Then either have your dad take it to the tech for cleaning, or get it to a local small-reputable computer repair shop.

A missing dll file will not in itself cause hardware overheating. But from what you described before, your hardware does have issues that need fixing by a technician.

I wish you well. I am closing this thread.
