virus stopping me boot into safe mode?

hi all,

bought a laptop on the cheap a few days ago, all was working fine until i got the pceu metropolitan ecrimes unit ransomware sign locking my pc.

my laptop is refusing to boot into safe mode, which is making it harder for me to do anything about it. i really don't want to wipe my pc as i've just set up oracle on their and it was a f**&*£&*A$ pain in the rear.

any ideas at all? it gets to the ctrl alt delete screen in xp, but my keyboard and mouse refuse to work....

2nd question first: No, you cannot run MBAM from a boot CD.

We cannot work on malware removal in this sub-section of the forum, so please read below for assistance with cleaning your system.

IMPORTANT: Please do NOT use any temporary file cleaners unless instructed to do so - they can cause data loss, making recovery difficult.

for the time being i'm trying the kaspersky rescue disk, but am very interested in the mbam pro option. i may well be back when this doesn't work!
