Unable to Completely remove iLivid nusearch PUP.Datamngr

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have spent the last week regretting that I ever downloaded iLivid which was recommended to me! It has left my Win7 machine in a poor way. I have scanned and cleaned up using the following:

Malwarebytes (has only ever one key and continues to rediscover and delete after restart: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{C1ED9DA0-AFD0-4B90-AC6A-D3874F591014} (PUP.Datamngr)

SUPERAntiSpywareFree - deleted a whole loads of keys

RogueKiller - also detects keys that reappear after a restart

JRT

eset

adwcleaner

I also went through the registry and deleted manually an awful lot of iLivid keys.

Still I have problems;

Generally: cannot drag and drop files, will not allow you to execute certain tasks (like clicking on buttons). Sometimes if you double click a shortcut another random program will open and scroll around by itself

Chrome browser: redirects and if you click on a tab the tab closes, cannot open customize and control menu nor bookmarks.

Opening task manager was causing orientation of the screen to flip by 90 degrees

......fail to be amused by this nuisance. Please help!

Welcome to the forum.

Please remove any usb or external drives from the computer before you run this scan!

Please download and run RogueKiller to your desktop.

Quit all running programs.

For Windows XP, double-click to start.

For Vista or Windows 7, do a right-click on the program, select Run as Administrator to start, & when prompted Allow to run.

Click Scan to scan the system.

When the scan completes > Close out the program > Don't Fix anything!

Don't run any other options, they're not all bad!!!!!!!

Post back the report which should be located on your desktop.

Please download AdwCleaner from here and save it on your Desktop.

  1. Right-click on adwcleaner.exe and select Run As Administrator (for XP just double click) to launch the application.
  2. Now click on the Search tab.
  3. Please post the contents of the log-file created in your next post.

Note: The log can also be located at C:\ >> AdwCleaner[XX].txt >> XX <-- Denotes the number of times the application has been ran, so in this should be something like R1.

P2P warning.....

Continued use of filesharing or ill-advised downloads will surely re-infect your system.

Risks of File-Sharing Technology.

P2P file sharing: Know the risks

It's also against the forums policy concerning P2P programs:

http://forums.malwar...showtopic=97700

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I see you ERUNT installed on the system, please make a backup of the registry before running OTL.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Download the attached fix.txt, rename it to fix.reg > double click on it and allow it to merge into the registry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please do this:
Run OTL
[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in bold:
[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, when done it will say "Fix Complete press ok to open the log"
Next...........
Please download and run ComboFix.
The most important things to remember when running it is to disable all your malware programs and run Combofix from your desktop.
Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix
http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix
Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
Information on disabling your malware programs can be found Here.
Make sure you run ComboFix from your desktop.
Give it at least 30-45 minutes to finish if needed.
Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.
---------->NOTE<----------
If you get the message Illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion after you run ComboFix....please reboot the computer, this should resolve the problem. You may have to do this several times if needed.
Hi MrC - I keep all data on a separate HD so will just reinstall Windows if this cannot be resolved rather than making a back-up - It will be easier.
Here are the actions that I have completed:
Download the attached fix.txt, rename it to fix.reg > double click on it and allow it to merge into the registry. - done and successfully merged.
Run OTL - done (report attached)
Run ComboFix - done (report attached)
I appreciate what you are saying but before iLivid was installed I did not have these issues. Things went very bad when I realised that my homepage was redirectly to nusearch and even worse over the next few days so no idea what it was bringing in behind the scenes.
I did do a system restore, not change. I still cannot drag and drop and I still am unable to click on the menus in Chrome or click between tabs without the tabs closing :(
On the plus side - Malwarebytes is no longer detecting that file! I can access Control Panel without orientation flipping by 90degrees. I can click on buttons and get the action without problems.
I will run the Power Eraser.
Is it worth trying a system repair rather than restore? I could try a restore again but am concerned that it will also restore the bad components. WDYT?
Many thanks for everything so far.
I ran the Norton log, unfortunately things have gone bad again.
- I tried to open Malwarebytes using the desktop shortcut it opened a random document folder instead
- You are unable to select 'yes' when you open Malwarebytes. 'No' is selected as default and you cannot click yes it doesn't matter how much you try.
- If you click on the bar at the top of any open window it skips off the side of the screen
- when you click the main menu (Windows logo) on the desktop and try to select something the menu starts selecting itself as if an invisible mouse is moving up and down the options very quickly.
- tried to access the Task Manager through ctrl+alt+del and orientation of the screen flipped again :(
I am going to reinstall windows - I think at this stage, whatever it is we cannot find it. I just hope no one else gets it.
