is this really a problem

I keep getting a message stating " that Mawarebytes has detected a potenially serios threat. Please type in 500774 port iexplore " and yet I thought this product would remove such things.

Is this a problem.

I have not typed anything in and after a scan Malaware has not detected any problems , there are no records of any quarantine action either.

Any advice please?

Hello RodH,

Save and close any work documents, close any apps that you started.

Temporarily turn off (disable) your antivirus program

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Start your MBAM MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware.

Click the Settings Tab and then the General Settings sub-tab. Make sure all option lines have a checkmark.

Then click the Scanner settings sub-tab in second row of tabs. Make sure all option lines have a checkmark.

Next, Click the Update tab. Press the "Check for Updates" button.

If prompted for a Restart, do that.

When done, click the Scanner tab.

Do a Full Scan.

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.

The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

When all done, Copy & paste the MBAM scan log into a new reply.

Re-enable your antivirus program.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com here

or http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr or

http://www.infospyware.net/sUBs/dds

Disable any script blocker if your antivirus/antimalware has it.

Then double click dds.scr to run the tool.

DDS will run in a command prompt window and will take 3 to 4 minutes or so.

When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.

Hi Maurice.

That did the trick. Many thanks for that but try as I may I cannot paste the logs into this Forum.

I am not terribly computer literate but don't do too bad for a 71 year old fella. When my grand children visit me soon I will use their expertise to have a go and send the logs.

They know computers far better than me.

In your case, you may "attach" log file(s). When starting a reply, look at the bottom-right of forum-topic-screen and click on the More Reply Options button.

You will then see "attach files" options {with paperclip icon) at the bottom left.

The default uploader allows you to upload attachments one at a time. To begin, press the BROWSE button. A box will appear for you to select the file on your computer that you want to attach. Select the file you want to upload.

If you change your mind, you can press the Clear selection button and then choose a different file.

Once you have selected the file you want, press Attach this file.

If there are any errors uploading the file, you will receive an error message, otherwise, you will see the attachment appear.

Be careful when you look for the log(s) to post back. You did not put DDS.txt in your last reply. Instead, you had made 2 copies of Attach.txt

I need the DDS.txt which you should find on your DESKTOP.

If your are running Windows XP, double click adwcleaner.exe to start it.

Otherwise, Right-click on adwcleaner.exe and select Run As Administrator to launch the application.

Now click on the Search tab.

Please post the contents of the log-file created in your next post.

Note: The log can also be located at C:\AdwCleaner[XX].txt where XX Denotes the number of times the application has been ran, so in this should be something like R1.

Please always Copy and Paste all contents of log inside main body of reply. Do NOT use attach feature, unless I ask for it.

You have put the Attach.txt of the DDS pair of reports. I must have the DDS.txt which should be on your DESKTOP.

Search for it and paste it into a new reply.

When you run the DDS tool it makes 2 report-logs: DDS.txt + Attach.txt

Once you close Attach.txt log you should then see the other, DDS.txt

The Adwcleaner report is good.

You are still needing to search for and post another log: DDS.txt which will be on your DESKTOP.

Download & SAVE to your Desktop >> Tigzy's RogueKillerfrom here << or

Quit all programs that you may have started.
Please disconnect any USB or external drives from the computer before you run this scan!
For Vista or Windows 7, do a right-click on the program, select Run as Administrator to start, & when prompted Allow to run.
For Windows XP, double-click to start.
Wait until Prescan has finished ...
Then Click on Scan button at upper right of screen.
Wait until the Status box shows "Scan Finished"
Click on Report and copy/paste the content of the Notepad into your next reply.
The log should be found in RKreport[1].txt on your Desktop
Do NOT press any Fix button.
