Freezing but may be infected

Recommended Posts

Hello,

yesterday I had MBAM update without me asking and then I when I opened Fireox all my logins had reset. I thought this was strange and so I decided to run a scan before risking logging in to my email or more sensitive sites.

I first ran AVG and it found one corrupted file in an Adobe Presenter, but when I ran MBAM it locked up about 23 minutes in.

I ran a full scan, but had to put in on pause while I went to bed and then I resumed. After 2.5 hours and over 500000 files it also froze.

I restored my computer to three days ago, reran AVG to re-remove the file, and then unistalled and reinstalled MBAM (using the cleaner).

When I ran a quick scan the same thing happened but right after 2 threats were found (again near the end of the scan when it was scanning the 'additional files' at the end.

I posted here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=119317&st=0&gopid=621586entry621586

I reran it again and managed to click 'abort scan' in the split second after the 2 threats were found and I was able to remove them. When I ran it again, it froze at about the same point (but the threats are no longer there).

I wonder whether there may be something else in the few remaining files that were still to be checked. Does anyone know how I may fix this and create a complete scan. I am attaching logs.

Thank you for any advice. I have never had this issue with MBAM before, however I have to admit it has been a few months since I ran it.Attach 120912.txtDDS 120912.txt

Hello Dragonwalker.

Be sure to turn OFF both Spyware Doctor and AVG - before- starting MBAM acan.

See How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Save and close any work documents, close any apps that you started.

Start your MBAM MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware.

Click the Settings Tab and then the General Settings sub-tab. Make sure all option lines have a checkmark.

Then click the Scanner settings sub-tab in second row of tabs. Make sure all option lines have a checkmark.

Next, Click the Update tab. Press the "Check for Updates" button.

If prompted for a Restart, do that.

When done, click the Scanner tab.

Do a Full Scan. i_arrow-l.gif

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.

The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

When all done, Copy & paste the MBAM scan log into a new reply.

Tell me, How is the system ?

Re-enable your antivirus program.

P.S. Do NOT "attach" any log when you reply. Henceforth, always Copy & Paste the contents directly into main-body of reply.
