infected thinkpad

hi. my boss' computer has been acting strangely. he gets warnings about registry being accessed, sometimes his browser goes to unexpected pages, and empty browser windows keep popping up. i installed malwarebytes and upgraded it so it would do realtime protection and automatic updates. a scan finds some things and fixed them but on reboot the problems come back. the hjt and mb logs are below. i included the mb log from right after a reboot that shows the problems it finds and another one from after that that comes back clean. i'd appreciate any insight.
