Hi and Welcome!! :) My name is Jeff. I would be more than happy to take a look at your malware results logs and help you with solving any malware problems you might have. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and know that I am working hard to get you a clean and functional system back in your hands. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your system inoperable and could require a full reinstall of your OS losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:

These tools MUST be run from the executable (.exe) every time you run them

with Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

Hi,

Let me understand....were you able to run the tool or are you not able to run the tool?

Are you trying to upload the results here? If so, just copy and paste the results to your reply.

Sorry....PM is Private Message. I should change that....you are talking about what is in my signature right?

Yes, I ran the program. I then pressed "save log" and it saved onto the desktop. However, the icon is a DVD with a blue circle in the top right corner and an arrow inside the circle. It is tied to my 'Nero" video player and I cannot get it to change. When I open 'properties', it says it is a '.dat' file, but neither wordpad, nor notepad gives me a readable screen. I will run the program again if you think I might have done something wrong.

Yes, 'private message' is what I was wondering. I should have guessed, but I'm not real computer savy.

Let's try a different tool...

Please download TDSSKiller

  • Double click TDSSKiller.exe
  • Press Start Scan
  • Do Not Attempt To Fix Anything Now. We just need to look over the report and be sure we are removing the correct
    items.
  • Attach the log in your next reply
    • A copy of the log will be saved automatically to the root of the drive (typically C:\)

CKScanner has detected illegal software on your system. Besides being illegal, it's the number one way of infecting your system as all cracked/keygen software is infected. This forum, as well as all the other malware removal forums, do not support the use of illegal software except for their removal. If I were to continue helping you with illegal software installed, it could be construed in the eyes of the law as aiding and abetting a crime.

This may or may not be related to your computer issues, however, if you wish me to continue helping you, then you must remove both the keygen and crack files as well as the related programs. If you do not agree to this then this thread will be closed and no further help will be offered because I will never be able to tell you your malware logs are clean. Please let me know if you wish to continue.

Hi,

c:\program files\superantispyware\crack.exe

c:\program files\superantispyware\crack\crack.exe

c:\program files\superantispyware\crack\desktop.ini

These are the problems....it might be easiest to

Go to Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs

This will open your list of installed programs.

Remove the following programs:

SUPERAntiSpyware Professional

----------

Your Windows Operating System is out of date...

You are currently running Windows XP Service Pack 2. The latest service pack is service pack 3. Download service pack 3 here and install it.

----------

Once you get all of this complete, run a new scan with DDS and CKScanner and post the new logs. :)

I removed the 'SuperAntiSpyware' in the 'Add/Remove' area, but it left everything in the folder so I deleted everything in the folder 'except' 'SASCTXMN.DLL' and 'SASWINLO.dll'. The computer would not allow me to delete them.

Without the 'SuperAntiSpyware', will people be looking in my computer? Should I buy something for that?

Here are the files/logs.

Hi,

Without the 'SuperAntiSpyware', will people be looking in my computer? Should I buy something for that?
I will get you some recommendations about security programs later, but I would not worry about someone "looking" at your system right now.

----------

As for removing drives, please wait until we have finished up and then if he wants to remove drives that is up to you two. :)

----------

Please read through these instructions to familarize yourself with what to expect when this tool runs

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1

Link 2

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : How to Disable your Security Programs
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

RCUpdate1.png

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

RC2-1.png

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.

3. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

4. If you get a message saying "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion", please restart your computer.

Hi,

Seems that Windows XP Service Pack 3 did not install correctly? Could you run a new DDS scan and post the logs please? We need to be sure you can get those updates so that you are not left with any security holes in your system.

I think that you had a failed install of Windows XP SP3. We need to remove what is there and reinstall the service pack.

Let's make sure your System Restore Point is set to On and Manually Set a Restore Point.

  • Go to Start
  • Select Control Panel
  • Select System
  • Select the System Protection link in the left-hand task list
  • Check the disk drive for which you would like to turn system restore on
  • Click the "Apply" button. System Restore will now monitor and create restore points for the checked
    disk drive.
  • Press Create button
  • Type a description of the Restore Point of your choosing
  • Press the Create button
  • Press Finish

Now we have turned On your System Restore and Manually set a Restore Point.

----------

Use the hidden $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder

  1. Click Start, click Run, copy/paste the following into the open run box, then click OK.
    c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
  2. When the Windows XP Service Pack 3 Removal Wizard starts, click Next.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove Windows XP SP3.

----------

Download service pack 3 here and install it.

Let me know when you get Windows XP SP3 installed and all updates associated with it installed as well.

Let's move on...

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the box below:

    ClearJavaCache::
    DDS::
    uStart Page = hxxp://apype.com
    Trusted Zone: musicmatch.com\online
    Firefox::
    FF - ProfilePath - c:\documents and settings\Owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\91ytp5be.default\
    FF - prefs.js: browser.search.selectedEngine - Custom search
    FF - prefs.js: browser.startup.homepage - hxxp://apype.com
    FF - prefs.js: keyword.URL - hxxp://apype.com/results.php?q=
  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.
    CFScriptB-4.gif
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix may request an update; please allow it.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

----------

Post the new ComboFix log and let me know how your system is running now. :)
