Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted December 2, 2012 Root Admin ID:619020 Share Posted December 2, 2012 The Microsoft antivirus should have removed it hopefully. If you do continue to have any issues come back and let us know and we'll assist you if needed. Thanks
GT500 Posted December 2, 2012 ID:619024 Share Posted December 2, 2012 Did the alert go away when you closed that tab in your browser? If it did, then probably just a website trying to get you to install a trojan.
Guest TheAncientWitch Posted December 2, 2012 ID:619025 Share Posted December 2, 2012 Yes the alert went away when i closed the website. I think it was a fake microsoft security essential screen or image that was shown in the browser because i dont have security essentials installed in my computer. BornSlippy Posted December 2, 2012 ID:619036 Share Posted December 2, 2012 It's the fake alert warning from this Rogue It would install with various Gui's depending on your operating system.
arleetel Posted December 10, 2012 ID:621837 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Got a similar alert yesterday? Luckily Kaspersky blocked the malicious URL.It happened when looking for Christmas pictures via google, the green K from KIS was present also the green wot sign, which is supposed to be safe.My question is why was malwarebytes not blocking it ? GT500 Posted December 11, 2012 ID:622078 Share Posted December 11, 2012 In the past, I've found Christmas pictures found in Google searches to contain a surprising amount of malicious websites. Since both Kaspersky and WOT were showing the website as safe, then it is possible that the website had recently been compromised in some way. Since MBAM only blocks known malicious IP addresses, it would not have blocked the IP address of a server that normally hosts safe content.

arleetel Posted December 13, 2012 ID:622909 Share Posted December 13, 2012 It’s The Most Dangerous Time of the Year! Thanks for the link. And I'm aware of that kind of scams. It is good though to get warned, just to remember how dangerous it is to click on links in such mails and/or even open them.
