pup.protectedsearch

malwarebytes flagged pup.protectedsearch as a virus but did not have a check mark nect to it for removal. i went ahead and check-marked it and removed it but now i am wondering is pup.protectedsearch something that i should have kept, maybe it is part of my vpn , i don't know, kindly help clarify

Hi:

PUP = Potentially Unwanted Program

They are legal software -- that's why MBAM only identifies them, but does not automatically flag them for deletion.

It may be something you installed as part of a software bundle or through some other means.

It may or may not be something you want to keep on your computer.

It doesn't sound like something that's part of any popular VPN client, but I'm not sure.
