Hello, daebak:

That question has been asked many, many, many times here and at other computer communities. :)

There is no one "best" answer, as there are a large number of excellent antivirus products, both free and paid.

The selection boils down to personal preference, one's computer specifications (in terms of meeting system requirements), cost and other factors.

There is a sticky topic here: Free Antivirus Recommendations

And, if you search the forum, you will find many, similar posts.

MBAM has been tested to run well alongside all of the major AVs.

In some cases, users find that setting mutual exclusions between MBAM and the AV optimizes performance (instructions are below and in the FAQ >>HERE<<).

If you ever run into a conflict, you can always post here at the forum or submit a ticket at the helpdesk for assistance resolving it.

(BTW both Avira and MSE run just fine with MBAM; but, of course, you should ONLY have ONE antivirus installed & running alongside MBAM. So, if you are having problems, then there is likely something else going on with your system - you may have traces of more than 1 AV still installed, insufficient hardware specs, malware traces, etc. The experts would need additional information about your system in order to help you sort that out.)

Thanks!

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software (I'm not sure what AV and what version of Windows you are using):

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware \ mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products

You are most welcome! :)

If you are having performance issues with your system's AV and MBAM after setting the exclusions described above, please follow the instructions below and post back with these logs as attachments to your next reply:

  • Checkresults.txt from mbam-check
  • A couple of protection logs, if you have them
  • DDS.txt from DDS
  • Attach.txt from DDS

These will provide the MBAM staff with a bit of information that will permit them to pinpoint the cause and the solution for you. :)

Thanks!

-----------------------------

Step 1 -- Create an mbam-check log:

Download mbam-check.exe from HERE and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file.

Please attach to your next reply the CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop.

Then, if you can, please also upload your 3 most recent Protection module logs:

In Windows XP, these logs are located in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs

In Windows Vista/7, these logs are located in: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs

Step 2 -- Run DDS and create 2 logs:

Download DDS from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop:

dds.scr

dds.com

Temporarily disable any script blocker if your Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware has it.

How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

Once it is downloaded, you can disconnect from the Internet and disable your Ant-Virus temporarily if needed.

Then double click dds.scr or dds.com to run the tool, on Vista or Win 7 right click and select Run as administrator

Click the Run button if prompted with an Open File - Security Warning dialog box.

A black DOS console should open and run for a moment.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:

    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop
  • Please attach both of the following logs to your next reply: DDS.txt and Attach.txt
--->You can ignore the note about zipping the Attach.txt file in most cases.

:welcome:

I highly advise against using Advanced System Care. Using any sort of registry cleaner can do permanent damage to your computer. They are nothing more then snake oil and have shown no proof to increasing performance. Cleaning any part of the registry could make your computer unusable. There is no 100% way to determine what keys/values are needed. Also regarding IOBIT see the link below on an issue with them stealing Malwarebytes' copyrighted database.
