[Shell_Notify] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2

I am running a Windows 64-bit XP machine (SP2) with Anti-Malware Corporate. (30GB RAM)

The PC is running VERY slowly (takes about ten minutes to boot), and when it finally comes up, I have a dialog box from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware that says:

[shell_Notify] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code: 2

I have uninstalled the software using mbam-clean and have reinstalled (with Symantec Endpoint disabled during install). However, this failed to solve the problem. The Anti-Malware version is 1.65.1.1000 Corporate.

This seems to be the only machine I am having issues with (regarding Anti-Malware), but it is also my only 64-bit XP machine as well.

Can you help me? This machine has been infected recently in the past, and I would rather have Malwarebytes running on it for extra protection. The machine runs much better when it is uninstalled, but then I feel more vulnerable.

Thank you.

Nick
