ASUS 1001PX Notebook suddenly lost audio. This shortly after fresh install. ACPI displays "audio driver lost"

Device manager / sound / legacy audio drivers / properties states: Driver is enabled but not functioning properly because "wdmaud.drv driver could not be loaded."

Neither MB or TDSSK scan show any threats after Rkill.

However the Rkill log shows:

Checking for processes to terminate:

* C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskswitch.exe (PID: 704) [WD-HEUR]

and further on:

Checking Windows Service Integrity:

* mnmsrvc [Missing Service]

* wscsvc [Missing Service]

* wdmaud [Missing Service] <<<<<<<<< IS THIS THE LIKELY CAUSE!!!!!????

Can anyone with more acumen than I possess, steer me toward restoring wdmaud service?
