malwarebytes memory footprint

Recommended Posts

Hi, bigcid10: :)

I'm not an MBAM staffer and I'm not running Win8, but that does actually sound about right, I think, especially while scanning.

However, MBAM is not yet officially supported on Win8.

The devs are in the process of extensive testing, and a new version of MBAM that fully supports Win8 & that runs streamlined on that platform will be released soon, as discussed here:

HTH until one of the MBAM staff can weigh in,

Greetings :)

We actually do now officially support Windows 8. It's now listed on our webpage among the supported operating systems.

Now, that being said, in general the RAM usage by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will vary greatly on each system. This is because as it scans each process to check for infection, RAM is used. It also varies depending on the database version being used as the number of signatures varies and the database size as well.

maybe the more ram you have the more the program uses?

I have 32gb in win8 vs 12gb in win7

It's certainly a possibility, as the amount of available RAM would affect how the operating system's memory manager handles RAM allocation (being more 'generous' with the RAM on systems which have more).

I'm running on a 7 x64 system with 16GB of RAM and typically MBAMService uses around 30~40MB of RAM.
