transferring my pro version from one pc to another.

Recommended Posts

Several months ago I purchased the pro version cd and installed it on my laptop. Was having constant freezing up issues. After running the pro on that machine several times with only minimal and temporary improvement, I purchased a new laptop. I have the free version right now on this new machine.

What is the process to remove it from the problem laptop (it will boot up and run for a short time; long enough to uninstall the pro version) and reinstall the license to my new computer? The old laptop is not being used.

Thanks for any help!

Have you ID and Key handy.

You can look up your ID and Key from the Registry and copy and paste it to a Notepad document before running the mbam-clean utility.

Location for Windows x86

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Location for Windows x64

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

To transfer Malwarebytes consumer license from one system to another please do as follows:

Part 1: Please run this clean up tool on the old machine (if possible) and allow a reboot when prompted.

http://downloads.mal...file/mbam_clean

Then install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware onto the new machine via the link below, at no cost of course.

Part 2: Install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware via the link below (downloads do not differ, activation with your ID and Key enables the PRO features)

http://downloads.mal...s.org/file/mbam

Part 3: Once the program is installed, activate the license with the ID and Key.

There should be a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware icon on the desktop, double-click that to open program. If there is no icon, you can go to:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware<<<

Yes, I have the cd and activation ID and key. I was also just reminded by my son (sorry I forgot this important fact) that he has my HP and reformatted the hard drive and installed windows 7 on it. He hasn't reinstalled any of my previous programs. As of now I have just been using the free version on new laptop but would like to have all of the pro version's benefits on my new computer. Can I still use my original ID and/or key on this new machine? Or is there something I still need to do to the old one to be sure it is considered "uninstalled"?
